Dataface debuted as a net/video installation at The Varsity in Carbondale, Illinois in 2011. This project consisted of collecting video portraits of approximately willing participants in the area. Each person was instructed to look into the lens of the camera without moving (as best as possible) and without talking. When running, the webpage would refresh every 10 minutes for different permutations of the 4x4 grid of video portraits. This piece serves as a conversation between viewer and screen, between real time and the past, between the virtual and non-virtual.
