Queer Futures Writing Lab
29 January 2023
Queer Futures is an interdisciplinary community gathering around a shared interest in queer feminist science fiction and experimental writing practises. Together we critically explore near and far speculative possibilities of queerness, technology, bodies, gender, ecology and community.
We are a drop-in community of online and offline interactions, meeting monthly in our virtual writing lab were we take turns sharing aspects of our writing process with each other. Our sessions are fluid in structure and adapt to the mood of those present, usually flowing between discussion, collective writing, storytelling and experience sharing. You can read more about our upcoming sessions here. We took the winter to reshape and evolve into a fully formed, updated iteration of the Writing Room, which I started with my collaborator, Miche O'Higgins, in March 2022. We're excited to launch our new website and instagram page for the occasion and look forward to a year's worth of montlhy meetings. |
Walking Dimensions at Sedek
31 August 2022
My super8 experimental film work from 2014, "Walking Dimensions" will be screened at the Ptilia event at Sedek (Beit Alliance), Jerusalem tomorrow, 31 August.
Ilan Barkani, Noam Ahdut, Maya Pennington, and Gidon Levy - members of the Sedek collective - will play in a new group performance, developed through a collaborative process, based on improvisation, and on voluntary game-like relations of guiding and being guided. Sedek was founded in 2020 by artists from the fields of music, sound, dance and performance, based in jerusalem. The members of the collective run a shared space for experimental creative work, and maintain a supportive infrastructure for artists to engage with their audience, create and collaborate. |

...And a Randy New Year
January/April 2020
It took me a few years to "come out" about my drag persona as a performative practice, but as I started working with more and more professional musicians in Israel, I began to realize how important music and performance was for me.
It was a combination of that, and not being able to find a suitable lip sync for my drag performances at bar shows, which led me to create my own music under alter ego Randy Miller. And now, after a year, I'm so excited to announce that I'm diving head first in making my(his) first full length album: Randy Miller and the Earthly Crisis! It will be a multi-genre, post-apocalyptic rock opera set in the future in which Randy, brined alcohol on the eve of the cataclysmic event, reawakens 100 years in the future to discover that everything he has ever known is gone. And in other good news: I just found out that Randy's first "hit single" and music video, Lone Wolf, as been accepted into the ClexaCon Film Festival in Nevada, USA! It will be making it's US premiere at the festival in April.

CRSF Liverpool / Official Selection - Splice Film Festival
06 June/ 22 June 2019
on June 6th, I presented a paper at the University of Liverpool on two of my works: xPlace/Space and a new work in progress within the context of Speculative Art.
Later in the month, my film xPlace/Space:008 screened at Splice Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY, USA. I'm glad for these opportunities to have public conversations about my work, especially as it relates to a growing fascination on the philosophy existing as a person in 2019 both virtually and physically and how our ideas of borders must be challenged in such times. If we are able to virtually traverse so many places through our screens, we must seriously consider how that translates to the physical world. |
