Performance and Keynote Presentation at the Sounds of the Metaverse Conference, Warsaw, Poland
23 November 2024
I'm so excited to join AOM in Warsaw as we present our new creation 'Entanglements in Cyberspace' at the 'Sounds of the Metaverse Conference.
Entanglements in Cyberspace For the Sounds of the Metaverse Conference, the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse (AOM) has created an evolving audio visual landscape in Second Life through a linked and related series of environments, which are all part of a conceptual, multi-sensorial whole. Building on AOM’s long practice of collaborative deep listening in the dynamic landscape of digital space, this new live performance installation focuses on mycelial and oceanic networks. Much like the neural connections of Earth, these networks embody the potential of empathic organisms thriving in cyberspace. ‘Entanglements in Cyberspace’ reflects interdependence and interconnectedness. Just as the ocean and mycelia nurture life beneath the surface, this digital symbiosis resonates within our collective intelligence, transcending traditional and hierarchical structures and physical boundaries. Cosy-Radical Storytelling
22 October 2024
Cosy-Radical Storytelling;
speculative fiction writing workshop The stories we tell matter. They are all around us shaping our reality as we shape them. A good story has the ability to move through us, metabolically nestled inside the body, until it is ready to diffuse back out into the world, maybe in the form of another story. And like this we world the world with our imaginations and desires. We believe that storytelling is an essential muscles for building more radical queer futures of resistance and regeneration, but a muscle in desperate need of training. So join us for a creative evening of exercising our collective storytelling muscles and allowing our imaginations and desires to flow in colourful and unexpected directions. No prior writing experience is needed, but if you have an existing idea for a story please bring it along! Or perhaps you have an excerpt of an existing story that you want to share with the group? Or a favourite speculative fiction book you want to tell us about? We will propose some short writing exercises to get us started, otherwise we will work with the material you bring and the space will be open for whatever the collective mood invites. See you for a cosy evening for queer imagination and radical futuring. De Opstand, Den Haag 22 October, 19:00-22:00 |

Ptilia Ensemble | Breath Cycles: Day and Night
12.09.2024
Breath Cycles Day and Night is a long-form, site-specific performance event of improvisation-based musical and performative works written and performed by Ptilia Ensemble in collaboration with performance initiatives by other local artists. The content of the works focus on deep listening practices established by American composer Pauline Oliveros, in which we intently study the sounds of the locale both within and outside Beit Hagefen and use those impressions as material for site-specific works which we create for the space. Joining Ensemble Ptilia (Dani Williamson, Ilan Barkani, Maya Pennington, Bar Eran, and Laila Mazal Yennishen) are local guest artists Avigail Sfez, Dorin Amitzur, Maayan Tsadka, and Yael Sadi. Together we drift between the many corners and spaces within the Beit Hagefen gallery to perform a stream-of-consciousness event whose sounds and movements will take place throughout different rooms within the gallery. A more detailed program will be published closer to the event.

The video project is a series of audio-visual pieces, the fruits of collaborations between Duo Alto and prominent composers and myself. The aim is to offer the audience a visual experience that will accompany the audio experience, while adding a unique value of pieces that were composed for the video and the video serving as a guideline for the composers throughout their compositional process.
This new concept of composition also fits the duo’s mission in reaching wide and diverse audiences, also those who are less familiar with the scene of contemporary art, as the contents are intended to be highly engaging, easy to access, and simple to disseminate to large audiences. Hybrid Futures: Songwriting/Performance Workshop
24 April, 2024
Queered Futures Lab presents Hybrid Futures; a 4.5 hour-long songwriting and performance workshop. This will be part of an experimental journey towards collectively creating a sci-fi futurist theatre play which engages more deeply in social justice, queerness, community, technology and the environment through a queer feminist lens. This process takes place throughout the year between Berlin and Amsterdam, culminating in a translocal community theatre production at the beginning of 2025. Hybrid Futures: Songwriting and Performance Workshop directly follows a scriptwriting workshop, which takes place the week prior in Berlin. Materials created from the Berlin workshop will be ingested, reinterpreted and “songified” in our songwriting workshop. Together, we will explore songwriting basics and popular chord progressions in order to create simple, musical drafts of the working script. We hope that this will serve as a playful experience of polyvocal writing. 16:30 - 21:00, 24 April 2024 Bar Bario, Bilderdijkstraat 186, 1053 LD Amsterdam |

Queer Futurity in Practise
13 February, 2024
Queered Futures Lab Presents: Queer Futurity in Practise
How do we practise futuring in our daily lives? What does queer futuring as both everyday micro-action and larger scale initiative look like? While we have pondered a lot on what a queer future is in theory and speculation, for this session we turn our attention towards queer futures as practical and everyday action. We will identify existing choices and structures in our lives that could be considered actions of queer futuring, as well as brainstorming new practices we can introduce. Throughout this conversation we cut, stick and reassemble these thoughts into small handbooks that treat the mundane and everyday as a site for speculative reshaping. Online event takes place 13th February, 19:30 - 21:30 CET. |
